Happy Fourth of July

The Fourth of July was always a holiday I looked forward to as a kid. It meant packing up our picnic blanket in the afternoon and staking out a good spot in our city park, which would be packed with hundreds of people by nightfall. My sister and I would play on the grassy lawn and wait eagerly for it to get dark. Then, the fireworks would begin. I began a tradition of counting each one as it exploded across the sky. My favorites were the smiley faces and the really big ones that thundered in your chest seconds after the lights flash. Although this Fourth of July is different, like every other holiday and occasion so far this year, it’s great to remember good times of the past and to look forward to even better days ahead.
