DIY House Lanterns

. You basically take cutouts of old prints and make them into lanterns or night lights. I love this project because it is so charming and romantic, yet very simple. Just looking at the picture below, I can already feel myself getting swept into a dreamy fairy tale. It's just the type of project that captures the imagination!
The other nice thing about it is that you can make the lanterns out of supplies you already have in your home. For complete DIY instructions, find them at
. But here's the gist of it: Simply find some vintage photographs of castles, chateaus, or cottages from old books or magazines. You could even print some off the Internet. Next, cut along the silhouette. Feel free to cut out any windows too. It will make it look like the light is actually glowing from within. Tape the outer edges together to make a stand-up cylinder. Then, just add a battery operated tea light inside. That's it! I think it would be cool to make a few of these and display them on a nice table as a vintage village.
