Admittedly, I know little to nothing about country music. I enjoy the occasional LeAnn Rimes or Patsy Cline song, but my playlist doesn't include much country. However, I've recently begun to listen to a great group called Lady Antebellum, the award-winning trio consisting of lead singers Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott, along with guitarist Dave Haywood. When my friend Michelle invited me to go to their concert, she burned me a cd of their best songs. I instantly fell in love with them! I've turned their album into my official commute playlist. What I like about Lady Antebellum, besides the great vocals and instrumentals, are the thoughtful lyrics and catchy tunes. They're the kind of songs that are perfect for long drives down a stretch of lonely highway or for unwinding after a long day.
Their concert tonight was one of the best I've ever experienced. David Nail was a great crowd-pleasing opener. He has this smooth, silky voice I could listen to all day. Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing him headline. Later when it was time for the main event, everyone was on their feet chanting for Lady Antebellum. They performed their hits, one after another to an enthusiastic crowd. One of the highlights was Charles Kelley's soulful performance of "Hello World."
One of their most popular songs (and a personal favorite) is "Need You Now". With sultry vocals and a heartbreaking melody, it's hard not to love it. I think my favorite line is, "And I wonder if I ever cross your mind; For me it happens all the time." Nice. Who hasn't felt that way at one time or another?

If you ever get a chance to see Lady Antebellum live, definitely go for it. If they ever come to the Bay Area again, I'll be sure to get a ticket. In the meantime I'll just put my iTunes playlist on repeat.
