Dim Sum and Then Some

Today was our girls' day out. Sam, Karina and I went out for dim sum at New China Foods: Fine Chinese Cuisine. It was my first time there and I was really pleased with everything. I think we were the first customers of the day, so we got to pick our table. After a few minutes though, people started pouring in and filling up all the tables around us. We joked that we always know how to bring the crowds in.

The food itself was great. They gave us a paper menu and a pencil so we could circle the items we wanted. I felt like I was in the school cafeteria again. We hungrily chose five or six items and decided that if we wanted any more, we would just order again later on. I'm kicking myself now for not remembering to pull out my camera and take some pictures. We had hot and sour soup, shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, chive dumplings, fried taro balls and custard buns. The three of us were stuffed at the end of it and our bill came out to only $15. A yummy heavy meal for only $5 a person? I'll be back!

Next we wandered over to a nearby Loehmanns and went shopping for a bit. Then off to Yogurtland. It's a self-serve frozen yogurt place where you dispense your own yogurt and add your own toppings. At the end of the line, they weigh your cup and charge you $0.30 per ounce.

It's actually a pretty good deal. I mixed NY Cheesecake and Tiramisu yogurts with cheesecake bits, cookie dough bits, Fruity Pebbles cereal, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Kit Kat, M&Ms and condensed milk. I'm probably on the fast-track to a serious sugar overload, but it was delicious!
