Today was another beautiful day in the City. Sun shining, blue skies, birds chirping, the whole bit. I went for a walk in Golden Gate Park with my supervisor for our biweekly meeting. We decided to explore the Park today, instead of our normal route by the Conservatory of Flowers.
Today as we were walking, we passed by this awesome playground to our left. According to the sign, it's called Koret Children's Quarter. It had climbing structures, swing sets, and a giant jungle gym. The best part, however, was this humongous, concrete slide that was built into a hill. We stopped for a minute to watch as a group of kids slid down the concrete slide on makeshift cardboard sleds. Awesome. I'm gonna add that to my to-do list. Note to self: bring a helmet!
Then, we walked a little further and discovered this beautiful carousel. According to the Nationa. Carousel Association, the Herschell-Spillman Carousel was built in 1914. It's a beautiful, old-fashioned, hand-carved carousel. There were only two or three children riding the carousel with their parents though. I wonder if it gets busy on the weekends... To ride it's $2 for adults, $1 for kids (under 12, i think), and free for kids under 5, with an adult riding with them. Another thing to add to my list.
For some reason, carousels always remind me of Holden Caulfield.
