Monterey Bay Aquarium
Let's play a game. Today, I ate one of the things in my blog post title. Which one? You're right: otters. Just kidding. I visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium today with my oceanography class. It was pretty cool going back and getting a chance to visit my favorite exhibits. I love the otters, the jellies, and the touch pool.
Ew.I didn't notice those creepy handprints before.
The otters are so cute and I'm always tempted to take a couple of them home with me. I might need a bigger bathtub though. The jellies are in an exhibit called "Living Art" where they're displayed in tanks with picture frames around them as if they were paintings in a museum. My favorites are the ones that flash rainbow lights. They don't even look like animals as much as they look toys you can find where you buy glow sticks and black lights...Spencer Gifts! That's it. I forgot the name for minute. The touch pool was pretty awesome too. I got to pet a bat ray, which looked kind of dangerous. But I figured if they let five year-olds stick their hands in to pet the thing, it can't be too dangerous. It was very soft and smooth. It was kind of like petting a piece of fine, wet velvet.
This sign made my day, but ruined my plans. I had to zip up my coat and go flash other creatures instead.
After I got back from the aquarium, my mom, sister and I went out for some Casper's hot dogs. It's this little hot dog place about 10 minutes away from our house that was built around the 70s. And, I swear, they haven't redecorated or updated the place since. The walls are covered with yellow tiles and the little swivel stools at the tables are faded red, orange, and yellow. I'll admit though, that their hot dogs aren't half bad. They're actually really popular during the lunch hour rush. It was my sister and my first time there in all the years we've been living here. My mom and dad dared to try it for the first time last week and they thought it was pretty good. So, while my dad was at a business meeting, my mom decided to treat my sister and me to a couple of chili cheese dogs.
