Call Me a Blazer of Trails

When was the last time you discovered something unexpected about yourself? It turns out I'm an outdoorsy girl and I didn't even know it. Last week I went on a company mountain biking trip hosted by

Sports Basement

and I think I found a new hobby.

To be honest, I was initially a little reluctant to go on the bike trip. I imagined an embarrassing afternoon of falling all over myself and panting to keep up with the rest of the group, but it turned out to be a challenging day of fun.  I think a lot of the credit goes to Sports Basement. I was pretty impressed their staff's level of preparation and attention to detail for the trip.

A beautiful autumn day at China Camp.

They hired a black tie shuttle to pick our group of 30 up from their

Presidio

location. In less than an hour, we were on the other side of the Golden Gate and making our way to

China Camp

in San Rafael. China Camp is a beautiful waterfront park with plenty of nice trails. By the time our bus pulled up to our reserved picnic spot, a crew from Sports Basement had already set up a tent and had cooked up a nice hot breakfast for us. In the parking lot, there was a rack of bikes with our names on them [A week before the trip, we emailed our height specifications so the staff could customize the bikes for us].

My baby.

After breakfast, we divided ourselves into four different groups from beginners to advanced riders. Two hours and a few skills clinics later, we were tearing up the open trails, so to speak. I'm happy to report that I survived the afternoon without a single scratch and I'm now looking into getting a bike of my very own. I guess I'm a convert.
