Blog Swap 2010
Theme: Action. What will you do next year that you've been putting off for too long?
First I want to thank Teresa for allowing me into her little piece of the blogosphere. This is the first Blog Swap event from 20sb that I’ve participated in and I’m really excited. Who am I? Well, my name is Heather and I blog over at The Sunset Won’t. I’m a recent college graduate, a building substitute teacher, who loves reading, chocolate and baking. I blog about my journey to live my life the best I can, lessons I’m learning and those I know that I still need to work on.
Don't put off until tomorrow that which can be done today. How many times have you heard it. Once? Twice? Dozens of times?
Making amends. Finishing school. Making your move. Working out. Big things, small things, it doesn't matter. They are things that are added to our to-do list and then somehow slip to the bottom. Bigger things. More important things get in the way. That's what I tell myself. I'm busy. I'll do it next month. It's not that big of a deal. I can live without doing it.
But can I? Ca3n you? What in your life have you been putting off for too long? What will you do in the next year that you have put haven't yet?
I have recently made a list of personal commandments that I am working on. Things like “Be Heather.” “Be in Awe.” “Let Go of Perfect.” “Enjoy the Ride.” Things that I have put off for far too long. Overall there are 10 of them. Ten big things that I need to work on. The last one is a question, “What are you waiting for?”
The perfect moment? It’s never going to arrive. The perfect scenario? It’s never going to act out the way you want it to. The perfect time. Well, you’ll be stuck waiting like Sonic the Hedgehog. There’s no ‘perfect’ sign on the clock. So we wait. And wait. And then we forget. Or we pretend we do.
So what am I going to do next year that I’ve put off too long? Living. That might sound ridiculous. I mean, I’m breathing. I work. I eat. I sleep. But that’s not enough. I want to really live. In every sense of the word. I want to to love a little stronger, trust a little deeper, share a little easier, live a little harder. I want to experience more, hesitate less. I want to be active, not passive in my own life.
I want to be in awe of the beauty around me. I want to let go of the need for everything to be perfect. I want to figure out who I am and then just be me. I want to try and forget what others think I should be doing and enjoy what is.
"Slip away and come watch the sunset."
'There are more calls to finish.'
"Those will wait. The sunset won't"

This passage inspired my blog, it’s title and theme. There are always going to be things that seem urgent. That are more important. That push things that were high on my to-do list a little farther down. But I need to remember that sometimes those things can wait. That I have a life that needs to be lived, a world that needs exploring. Hopes and dreams that need attempting.
So, what are YOU waiting for?
