Kindness #2: Affirmations
Act of Kindness #2:
Tonight a fraternity brother of mine announced that he is moving back to Hawaii to live with his family. In our fraternity, he is not only one of our advisors, but also one of our most-loved brothers. As a tribute, many of his closest friends wanted to share their favorite memories with him and tell him how grateful they were to have him in their lives. He has been friends with most of them for several years. They shared stories about how he would always go out of his way to make someone feel welcome in the fraternity and how he would go the extra mile to help anyone out who was having problems in their lives. He even let someone who didn't have anywhere to live, stay with him for a few months. Many said that he was the reason they decided to join/ stick with our fraternity. After many heart-felt tributes, there wasn't a single dry eye in the room.
I chose this as today's Act of Kindness because I think one of the greatest acts is to let people in our lives know how much they mean to us. A simple acknowledgment of how someone impacted our lives means a lot.
