Sooo worth it!

Where do I begin?  For anyone who has yet to see The Dark Knight, I'll keep this post free from spoilers. It's now about 4 in the morning, and I'm still awake. I'm back from watching one of the most exciting movies I've seen all year. And the thing is, when I bought the tickets, I wasn't really all that excited to watch. Sure, I wanted to go to a midnight release with my friends, but I didn't think I would like the movie this much. In fact, I didn't even see Batman Begins until a couple of days ago. So unlike most of the loyal Batman fans, I only had two days of itchy anticipation for The Dark Knight. I can't imagine what it must have been like for fans who watched Batman Begins right when it came out, and having to wait all this time for The Dark Knight. It must have been like watching the Harry Potter movies and having each end too soon, but knowing what is going to happen next because of the books. At least, that's how I felt after I watched The Order of the Phoenix last summer after finishing the last book. I couldn't help but feel that the movie was way too short, especially because I paid $15 for ten minutes of 3D.

Anyway, as I was watching the movie, there were a few weird thoughts running through my head:

  • How did Maggie Gyllenhaal feel, knowing her brother fooled around the Joker?
  • When will they finish rebuilding Wayne Manor? I mean, the penthouse is cool. But it's just not the same.
  • Who's scarier: Jack Nicholson's Joker, Heath Ledger's Joker, or Jack Nicholson in real life?
  • Again, why does Christian Bale do such a freakishly deep voice when he's Batman? He has a perfectly normal voice as Bruce Wayne. But as Batman, he sounds like those guys in high school gym class who tried to make their voices sound a lot lower than they naturally were.
  • How can Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine always be so freakin' awesome? Oh, wait. Because they're Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine.
  • I'll never look at a pencil or pool cue the same way ever again.
In short, I love this movie and I highly recommend it to anyone.
